  • Practice teaching side-by-side with adolescents
  • Additional study and writing on Montessori principles
  • Independent literature review

Observations

0-3 = 6 hours

3-6 = 6 hours

6-12 = 18 hours

12-18 = 40 hours each in two different environments

Practicum (practice teaching)

Four consecutive weeks, working side-by-side with the adolescents.

Part III (6-7 weeks):

The follow-up module is there to further implement and refine Montessori´s vision for the third plane of development. There will be sharing of your observations and experience through the lens of Montessori core principles in order to better support the adolescents in their developmental task. You will also have the possibility to share your findings of your literature review.

The first two weeks of the Diploma Course (Part 1 - session 1) focuses on the first and second planes of development which lay the foundation for the third plane. When you arrive back to Sweden for Part 1 - session 2, we will dive straight into the third plane (12-18) Montessori theory and the work which that entails. This is also the time when you will have your mandatory residential experience, living and working together as a community, just as the adolescents do. For Part 3, which is the final module, you will come back to Sweden where we will have reviews of the Montessori theory and methodology, seminars and discussion as well as the written and oral examinations.

In between the on-site modules, there will be observations at the different age levels to complete as well as a practicum (practice teaching), working side-by-side with a group of adolescents. We will support you in finding school to do this work. You will also be asked to write an independent literature review on a self-chosen topic relating to adolescents and their development.

Student Testimonials

"The AMI 12-18 diploma is more than a training, it's a deep personal transformation."

- Elisabeth, 12-18 diploma graduate (2024)

"It was a privilege to experience the life that could be offered to adolescents, to all adolescents, with the work, the study, the games, the jokes, the laughter and the hardships and misunderstandings that are part of all human relationships. Above all, it was a privilege to find a course that not only enriched me intellectually and in terms of knowledge, but also truly gave me the opportunity for a spiritual enrichment, as rare as it is profound."

- Elena, 12-18 diploma graduate (2024)

"By experiencing the position of the adolescents in their environment, we rediscover the simple joy of serving others, of feeling useful, of making an effort for the community around us, but also of making a positive contribution to humanity."

- Elisabeth, 12-18 diploma graduate (2024)

"I am genuinely grateful for this course and happy to be part of the community of adolescent educators. The time I spent in Sweden was not only an educational experience but also a spiritual fortification that deepened my understanding of Montessori philosophy. Now, I feel ready not only to teach but also to open a school, implement the work and study program, and be a mentor for future teachers."

- Regina, 12-18 diploma graduate (2024)
