About Us

The Montessori Centre for Work and Study was started in 2010. It is based on a working farm in the beautiful, peaceful Swedish countryside near Sätila. On the farm the students live, work and study.

We are a residential community of Swedish and international students and adults including teachers, instructors and house parents. In our farm house we cook and share meals, take responsibility for caring of our environment and, of course, enjoy social time together.

Academic learning is integrated into the practical work on the farm. This includes food preparation, gardening, raising animals and maintenance of buildings. Students have the opportunity to apply natural sciences on the farm with an emphasis on sustainability.

Since the community is striving towards self-sufficiency, production from the farm is important. The students run regular markets to sell their produce and craft work. They are responsible for managing their own financial accounts.

Montessori identified the developing adolescents´ need for self-expression. The Centre offers a range of sports and opportunities for drama, music, wood work and visual arts.
